LA GRÂCE: SPRINGTIME JOY

RECYCLED LEATHER WEAVING ON ALUMINUM STRUCTURE, CERAMIC BEADS

100x50cm

LA GRÂCE series emerged during a time of deep spiritual unfolding — a sacred season in which the invisible thread of the divine became vivid, tender, and near. Each piece is a gesture of gratitude, a reverent bow toward the unseen, the mysterious fabric of existence.

In SPRINGTIME JOY, grace bursts forth through nature’s untamed bloom, an ecstatic hymn in color and form.

MURMURED PRAYERS carries hundreds of handwoven fragments, each one etched in silence with prayers to the Virgin — hidden on their reverse, like secrets nestled close to the heart.

In MUSANDAM NIGHTS, golden strands weave through alabaster marble, recalling a half-dreamed memory where star-strewn skies bend to kiss luminous waters.

This series is my quiet testimony: that beneath the visible, beyond the tactile, all that exists is divine love.

The making, too, is an act of devotion. I developed my own technique for weaving salvaged leather remnants — breathing new life into the discarded. With the sensibility of a mosaicist, I treated these fragments as tesserae, threading them into a firm aluminum mesh. I’m often drawn spontaneously to a material, a color, a texture — not knowing at first how it will speak, only that it will. And in time, as with all sacred things, the way reveals itself.

“I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees.
Pablo Neruda

SPRINGTIME JOY is a dynamic and richly textured textile work created using recycled leather and ceramic elements. The piece explores the tension between organic abundance and controlled construction, presenting a dense surface where material and movement intertwine.

The structure consists of countless leather strips, woven and layered in an almost vegetal configuration. These are interspersed with thin strands that loop and spill across the surface, creating a sense of natural overgrowth or proliferation. Small ceramic beads punctuate the composition, adding rhythm and tactility.

Visually, the work evokes an explosion of spring vegetation or a blooming underbrush, captured at the height of its vitality. The composition transitions from deeper pink tones along the margins to a more neutral and densely entangled center, suggesting both emergence and inward collapse. This dual movement enhances the immersive and almost overwhelming quality of the work.

The title, SPRINGTIME JOY, reinforces the sense of organic exuberance and renewal. Through the use of recycled materials, the artist also engages with ideas of sustainability and transformation, where discarded matter is reanimated into a living, breathing surface. The result is a powerful meditation on growth, sensuality, and the untamed energy of seasonal change.
